Do you remember these funky looking red post office box, in this tutorials I will show you how to design this letter box.
Lets read and try to understand of the following steps.

[1]-First of all open new document of custom size with Height & Width 500×500 pixels is fine, Resolution 72 and Mode RGB Color.

[2]-Now fill the background with any color by the press Alt+Backspace & Go to Filter>Render> Lighting Effects & apply the following settings

[3]-Now you will find as shown below

[4]-Now create the following selection with the help of Rectangular Marquee Tool

[5]-Now hold Shift and create the following selection with the Help of Elliptical Marquee Tool

[6]-Now fill the selection with # E50818 color & click on sign ‘f’ which is indicating by Hand sign as shown below

[7]-Now select Drop Shadow and apply the following settings

[8]-Now your image will be look as shown below

[9]-Now create the following selection with the help of Rectangular Marquee Tool

[10]-Now fill the selection with # E50818 color & click on sign ‘f’ which is indicating by Hand sign as shown below

[11]-Now select Drop Shadow and apply the following settings

[12]-Now your image will be look as shown below

[13]-Now create the following selection with the help of Rectangular Marquee TOol

[14]-Now fill the selection with # 060001 color and create the following selection with the help of POlygonal Lasso Tool

[15]-Now fill the selection with # C4101D color and click on ‘f’ for Blending Option (as earlier) and after that select Drop Shadow and use the following settings

[16]-Now create the following selection with the help of Rectangular Marquee Tool

[17]-Now fill the selection with # C4101D color and click on sign ‘f’ which is indicating by Hand sign as shown below

[18]-Now select Inner Glow and apply the followin settings

[19]-Now create the following selection with the help of Polygonal Lasso Tool

[20]-Now fill the selection with # FCF7F7 color as shown below

[21]-Now create the Text with the Help of Text Tool, at last all settings have been completed and your FInal image will be look as shown below
