Distance learning program helps the students, living at different geographical location, to interact with each other and to attend the lectures without being there in the classroom. All teaching and learning is done using these technologies. Not only students could be at different geographical locations, even faculty need not to travel to the campus to deliver the lectures.

Advantages of Distance-Learning Program:

There are many advantages of distance learning program. Students, who can’t join the classes physically, prefer Distance Learning Program. Some of the key advantages of Distance learning program are:

Disadvantages / Limitations of Distance- Learning Program:

There are many benefits of Distance learning program but at the same time, it has got some limitations as well which students should consider before applying for this program. Some of its key limitations/disadvantages are:

• Although Distance learning programs offer interaction with faculty and fellow students but this interaction is surely limited. The best interaction is always a physical interaction.
• It prevents the student from broadening their professional network as distance learning programs don’t provide much networking opportunities to its students. Usually students get these opportunities in a real-world learning environment; on the other hand, distance learning programs provide virtual learning environment. So, distance learning programs are therefore not advisable for career switchers.
• If a student can work better in an interactive environment, then he/she should not consider Distance Learning programs.
• Since distance learning programs are mostly chosen by professional workers, therefore, student scholarship may not be available for them. If you want to know more about scholarship issues, then you should refer to your respective school.
• Distance learning programs are not available everywhere. Since it involves new technologies, it is not being offered by every university/institute/college. Even if it is available, it will be available for a limited number of programs.
• In case of distance learning program, career services like placement or internship may not be available or may be very limited. It is usually available for other programs like Full-Time (either one or two year).
